1/4cSugar
1tbCornstarch
  Pinch of salt
2cMilk
2 Egg yolks
1tbButter or margarine
1tsVanilla extract

Combine sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a small saucepan; gradually stir in milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil. Cook 1 additional minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.Beat egg yolks at medium speed of an electric mixer until thick and lemon colored. Gradually stir about one-fourth of hot mixture into yolks; add to remaining hot mixture, stirring constantly. Bring mixture to a boil over medium heat and cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in butter and vanilla. Pour mixture into 4 (6-ounce) custard cups. Cover with plastic wrap, gently pressing directly on pudding. Chill. Yield: 4 servings.
